Our Curriculum
A Thematic Approach
There is evidence that teaching subject knowledge and skills as part of a wider topic based curriculum allows pupils to make useful links between areas of learning, and consolidate skills. Children are also likely to be more engaged in their learning if it has a context and theme that runs through it. We believe that children learn better when they can make connections between what they are learning.

Delivering the National Curriculum
Our topics and themes have been carefully planned to deliver the content of the National Curriculum 2014 and other aspects of the school curriculum, including PHSE, Religious Education and Citizenship.
Each subject area has been organised and planned to ensure progression from EYFs through to Year 6.
Some subjects like Science and PE are taught discreetly as we feel that is the best way to ensure coverage and progression.
Curriculum Maps
Each year group has a curriculum map that outlines the topics for each half term, the cross-curricular links between the subject areas and the content of subjects that are taught outside of the topics.
The Wider Curriculum
Our curriculum reflects the diversity of our world and is flexible to respond to local projects.
We expect the children to take part in all the learning opportunities provided and we celebrate good learning each week in our Friday assembly at 2.50.
Each class also has a family assembly once a year.
Subject Overviews
Each curriculum area is carefully organised to ensure progression and to develop knowledge, understanding and subject specific skills and vocabulary.
