We use the Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Service (THAMES) to provide music support in our school.
Mercedes Maresca, a THAMES specialist teacher, delivers music lessons to all year groups as well as leading our school choir. Her focus is on:

• Teaching the children a range of songs from different cultures and from different genres
• Providing opportunities for children to listen to and respond to different music genres and to learn about different musicians
• Teaching the children to follow a rhythm and to use a range of percussion instruments
• Teaching children to compose short pieces of music on different instruments

Through THAMES, we also have  a session of whole class violin and cello lessons for Year 3 and Year 4. They have had these lessons for two years.
Children can then join a continuers group or may be identified to receive 1:1 tuition as part of the THAMES music award.
THAMES also provide opportunities for classes to take part in a range of music projects through the year.
